Soft Tissue Sprains and Strains
These are extremely common and easily treated with the correct advice from any of our therapists.
Ligaments can be sprained if a joint is forced into an abnormal position. Ligaments help to support joints and prevent more movement than is within accepted normal ranges. Ligaments take longer than muscles to heal because they have a relatively poor blood supply. Physiotherapy and massage therapy can help by various means to increase blood flow to damaged ligaments thus helping the healing process.
Muscles become strained and occasionally torn due to over-use or injury. Muscles have a good blood supply and generally heal relatively quickly but it is essential to get the correct advice at an early stage to ensure good recovery and with the proper advice, treatment and strengthening programme, can help to prevent future injuries.
